Meet Dr. Smith
Dr. Smith is a proud native of South Beloit, IL, having grown up in the greater Beloit area. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Clarke University in Dubuque, IA in 2017. Most recently, she graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in May.
Dr. Smith’s veterinary journey began right here at Badger Veterinary Hospital, where she first shadowed in 2016. Over the years, she returned for multiple externships—both during her undergraduate studies and her clinical year in vet school. Her love for the clinic, its community, and the dedicated staff ultimately inspired her to make Badger Veterinary Hospital her professional home.
In general practice, Dr. Smith’s favorite part is building long-term relationships with pets and their families—watching patients grow from playful puppies and kittens into cherished senior companions. She shares her own home with two beloved dogs, Jasmine (pictured) and Finley. Finley was diagnosed with heartworm disease in 2020, an experience that ignited her passion for preventive medicine and she is committed to helping families protect their pets from preventable illnesses. Dr. Smith’s professional interests also include urgent and convenient care, neurology, and senior pet wellness.
Outside of the clinic, she enjoys reading, golfing, growing her own vegetables, and spending time with family and friends. She is thrilled to begin meeting clients and their furry family members and is excited to serve the Beloit and surrounding communities.
