Meet Dr. Prohaska
Dr. Hailey Prohaska is from Platteville, Wisconsin, and graduated with honors from the University of Illinois – College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019 with her DVM degree. Prior to veterinary school, she attended Luther College where she earned her undergraduate degree in biology with a minor in philosophy. During her time in vet school, she studied a wide array of disciplines. While completing her veterinary studies, she was employed as an on-call veterinary radiology technician where she completed urgent CT scans, x-rays, and fluoroscopy studies for critical patients. Hailey also worked in a reproductive biology lab, and the research led to a publication in Genesis.
From 2019 to 2023, she enjoyed working as a mixed animal veterinarian, where she was out on farms and also in the clinic. In 2023, she became a small animal relief veterinarian and was able to help short staffed clinics see more patients in need. Hailey found Beloit Veterinary Hospital while doing relief work, and it felt like home. Hailey was impressed with the quality of medical and surgical care, the high level of teamwork, and saw how much every staff member truly cares for the patients and clients. Hailey notes, “I enjoy building relationships with my patients and clients the most. I of course love the medical and surgical aspect, but building those connections really makes me love what I do. It makes me happy to see them happy.
Hailey lives with her two special needs guinea pigs, Cookie and Swisher, and her parakeet Jade. She enjoys gardening/houseplants, camping and hiking, kayaking, drinking coffee, appreciating philosophy and art, petting cows, and spending time with her sister, niece, nephew, and partner Elijah.
